Surface preparation is a vital part of floor system installation. Without preparation the epoxy floor coating system will have trouble bonding to the concrete surface. This is especially true when it comes to floors that have been contaminated with oil or fluid. Old worn floors might also have pieces of mortar, dirt or other debris that make it impossible to develop a sufficient profile for the epoxy to adhere to. This can result in a range of problems with a newly installed floor system.
There are a number of floor surface preparation methods. Neoseal uses four main surface preparation options. These surface preparation options are: shot blasting, diamond grinding, scarifying and crack & joint repairs. Each of these surface preparation methods has advantages and disadvantages. In many cases the advantages and disadvantages of each method is related to the application and environment that the floor system is being installed.
